From Instinct to Form — A Timepiece Born of Pure Imagination

The collaboration between The Trio of Time (TTT) and Han Gao of Workbyworks introduces - Three, a timepiece shaped not by rules, but by instinct. Guided by an inner visual rather than step-by-step logic, the design unfolds like a collage — a composition of hand-drawn lines, abstract forms, and quiet emotion. Its hands, slick and expressive, echo the spontaneity of a sketch, capturing the rawness of intuition.

A design led by instinct, emotion, and the beauty of knowing when to stop.

I trust my instinct over design rationales. I wanted to have the hands on the watch to have this slick and hand-drawn quality. Rather than designing from step by step, I had this image in my head and designed towards it.

As the design is piecing together, I also need to know where to stop and I did. The final result is a collage of shapes, lines, time, and feelings of this timeless feeling.

Like the name suggests, Three is blurry in its meaning, yet it simply feels right for the watch.”

About Han Gao

Han Gao is an art director and graphic designer. He graduated from Yale University School of Art MFA, and founded the Workbyworks Studio in 2018. His works have been awarded Tokyo TDC Prize, Red Dot best of the bests, D&AD, DIELINE Award, Pentawards Platinum Award, New York TDC, 360 Award etc. Clients, commissioners and collaborators have included Apple, Nike, IBM, Kappa, Umbro, Guggenheim Museum etc.
