Expanding the Typeface Legacy: Introducing the Thermal Timepiece

The collaboration between the Trio of Time and Actual Source gave birth to the Thermal Watch, a remarkable timepiece that integrates the unique typeface "Thermal," initially designed for Virgil Abloh's Re-Creation Center at Nike Lab Chicago in 2019.

Time Imprinted: Draws from the Rhythm of Thermal Printing

Inspired by the rhythmic patterns of thermal printing, the watch embodies the very essence of this printing technique, often used to imprint expiration dates on consumer goods. The distinctive horizontal lines, blending seamlessly as they mark the movement of products on a conveyor belt, have been artfully incorporated into the watch face, becoming an integral part of its design.

Originally comprising only a limited set of letters, the typeface underwent meticulous expansion to encompass lowercase letters, punctuation, diacritics, and notably, Roman numerals. These numerals grace the face of the Thermal Watch, offering a glimpse into a pixelated world where precision and fluid motion coexist harmoniously.
