Oliver Jeffers × ANICORN: Time and Space
What if a constellation could tell the story of human imagination?
Time and Space is a limited-edition mechanical watch created by artist and storyteller Oliver Jeffers and independent watchmaker ANICORN. Inspired by humanity’s oldest stories and deepest questions, it transforms four familiar inventions into a hand-painted celestial map.
Limited to just 300 pieces worldwide, the watch brings together art, storytelling and mechanical watchmaking in a wearable exploration of what people create—and how those ideas travel through time.

A New Constellation, Shaped by Imagination
Across his books and artworks, Oliver Jeffers often explores time, memory and our place in the cosmos. For this collaboration, those ideas move from the page to the wrist.
The deep blue dial resembles a night sky, but its constellation is not made from planets and stars alone. Instead, four small objects appear among the lines and points of light, each representing a milestone in humanity’s journey of imagination and progress.

Four Symbols of Human Invention
At the heart of the dial are four symbolic indexes:
- Match — representing fire
- Lightbulb — representing an idea
- Book — representing knowledge and illumination
- Car — representing engineering
Together, they form a constellation of meaning: small human-made objects orbiting time, connected by curiosity and invention.
Painted by Hand, One Symbol at a Time
Each miniature index is painted by skilled artisans using micro-brushes under magnification. From the base coat to the final line, every symbol takes more than two hours and 12 meticulous steps to complete.
Because every layer is applied by hand, no two dials are completely identical. The subtle differences give each watch its own character—a reminder that this constellation was shaped by human hands.
Crafted as a Universe
The story continues beyond the dial. Every surface contributes another detail to the wider Time and Space universe:
- The crown features a carved eight-pointed star, recalling the guiding symbols found on ancient maps.
- The exhibition case back reveals the automatic movement, custom rotor and bridge, with ANICORN and Oliver Jeffers engraved in orbit.
- The rose-gold-plated stainless-steel case frames the deep blue dial, while sapphire glass protects the hand-painted artwork.
-
The quick-release leather strap completes the watch with a clean, understated finish.

An Artwork That Tells a Story
Time and Space is presented in a hardcover, book-style box designed in Jeffers’s visual language. Open it and the experience unfolds like a story: the mechanical watch, an Oliver Jeffers autograph with an individual number, and pages of original content created for the collaboration.
The box is not simply packaging. It is part of the work—a prologue to the ideas held within the watch.

About Oliver Jeffers
Oliver Jeffers makes art and tells stories. His practice spans painting, bookmaking, illustration, collage, performance and sculpture, with curiosity and humour running through everything he creates. His fine art is largely made for adults, while his picture books are largely made for children—but both invite audiences to look again at familiar ideas.
In Time and Space, that perspective turns a mechanical watch into a miniature story about knowledge, progress and our place in the universe.
